The basic empty mass of a helicopter is 4910 kg. The operational items (including crew) is given as a mass of 320 kg. If the take-off mass is 7980 kg (including a usable fuel quantity of 1080 kg) the useful load is:

Answer is 2750 .....put and comes up as 3070

    Re: Q310157

The TOM of the helicopter is the DOM + FUEL + TL
The Useful load is the FUEL +TL.
Simply deduct the DOM from the TOM to find the Useful Load.
The DOM is the BEM + Operational items. 4910 kg + 320 kg = 5230 kg
    7980 kg - 5230 kg = 2750 kg.

I'm hoping you are indeed a helicopter student. If so I will move the post to the helicopter forum.

Hi Colin, it doesn't seem to be corrected on the database yet... I've just done the question and the answer given is 3070.
