  • Q 500682 Discrepancy

Text says pressure drops at the cold front, question says it rises. Which one is it?

  • #2
    There's no disrepancy.
I've advised you previously to take note of EVERY word in the question. It asks what will happen in the NEXT HOUR.
The image shows point "A" to be on the cold front NOW. The text says there will be a brief, slight drop in pressure as the front passes.
But in an hour's time, the front will have moved on, and point "A" will have been BEHIND the cold front for most of that hour.
The text says the pressure will rise behind the cold front.
The same as the answer marked correct in the question

Note that the isobars are of ever increasing value as the front moves further to the right of our position.

So if the question asked what happens at the time of passage of the cold front, would the answer be "pressure drops"?
