MRJT1 if the hold is to be conducted in straight and level flight, reduce the fuel flow by 5%. What does this mean, could someone explain this part?

    Hi
Sometimes you will be held on an airway (for example) between widely-spaced DMEs where the majority of your hold is straight and level and not a continuous 1 minute racetrack. In this case you would use less fuel as you are straight and level for most of the time.
