If the Q had stated 3.5 hours SAFE endurance and that we must land with 30 min fuel; no subtraction is required because 3.5 hrs SAFE endurance means land with reserves. So we would use 3.5 hours to calculate PSR.

However, in this question, it states that you need to land with 30mins reserve, so minus the 0.5

Gives a Safe Endurance of 3.0

I've checked with Tom and we agree that the number to use in the PSR formula is the "safe endurance", in this case 3.5 hours.
If you used 3.5 and know definitely that you had it marked as incorrect please let us know.

I'd also like to know this - had it in my exam in August and got it wrong as I had no idea what they were asking for. If I'd have got it right, I'd have passed...

Does anyone can tell me if we have to use 3.5 or 3 hours in the formula for the following question please?

"Given 3.5 hours of safe endurance, they gave you the g/s out and home, told you that you needed 30 minutes of fuel remaining and they wanted the PSR, do you use the 3.5 or 3 hours in the formula?"
