    This works if you use FL100 - but the question says FL130 - for which the answer is M0.44

      Can someone please tell me how you get the Mach number below ? Is this from the formula MN=TAS/LSS ? Or if you have the way through the CRP-5. Thanks.

      Question: What is the mach number at FL130 and a CAS of 230 KT ?
      Answer: M 0.445

        Accurate answer is M 0.441

        I think as far as the exam goes the only practical solution to this conversion is to get TAS from the CRP5 assuming ISA temperature, then convert TAS to Mach using the formula or CRP5.

        This is a pity because the relation between CAS and Mach does not depend on temperature or TAS and there ought to be an easy way of converting direct.

        Here is a graph which you could use (but not in an exam).
